Semester One Reflection

Image
During this semester we created a PSA, short film and we are currently working on our feature film. Our PSA we chose to do was mine. We could have had more time to make a more finished product but overall I was happy with the PSA. This project took around 2 weeks to complete. We had three different ideas to choose from and we chose mine because the topic was relevant at the time and my group thought the concept was well developed. Some feedback we were given was to have better shadows and more clear audio. Some challenges we had was some of the props were not delivered and we had to improvise the shadows. In class I edited the video and tried to fix the audio as best I could. I did not have any free time to spend. I worked on the video until it was due. Overall, the video was successful but could be greatly improved. The second project was our short film. We chose Skai's concept because it affects a lot of families on a daily basis and it is a very touching story. I wa...

MX4D

Image
MX4D is supposedly supposed to immerse the audience into a movie like never before. I beg to differ. The movements did follow the movie however they did not follow one specific pattern or character. It was confusing at times and pull away from the movie. The smells were not accurate at all. They were pretty gross which also distracted from the movie. The movie overall was a pretty okay movie. The characters where mostly developed but the three new ones, Flash, Aqua-man, and Cyborg could have been developed more. The color grading and cinematography is similar to Marvel's movies. My favorite scene was when Superman came back to life and had no idea who he was. And he had his line "Tell me...Do you bleed?" While we are on the topic of Marvel (which is clearly more superior) the have a new film coming out "Infinity War" so don't forget to check that out in the summer of 2018 so don't forget to check that out.

Menu

For my menu item of the director, I researched about the director of the Ironman movies. Jon Favreau dropped out of school just shy of receiving his degree and moved to Chicago. Appeared on the "Seinfeld" show and had small roles in other major films. After he decided to write a movie with his co-director Vince Vaughn, called "Swingers" This was their breakthrough movie which both of them acted in. His "thing" would be acting in his own movies. For example, he played as Hogan in the Ironman movies. I love Marvel and especially the Ironman movies and  I believe the script and actors he chose to have in the movie fit the roles perfectly.

EVA Short Film

Image
In EVA we had to create a cohesive script and one that we could actually produce. So while in pre-production we chose to change the script so we could finish the movie on time. We didn't do much storyboarding because our group felt like they held back the creativeness of the group and actors.  During the production we went with what felt right. Since we didn't storyboard we let the actors freely convey their emotions. I was the cinematographer and I was not happy with my camera skills but I did learn how to use the camera settings to create different moods and how to use different lenses to make more emotional scenes for the audience. Skai, the director, lead the group into her vision of the movie but also letting room for creativeness. She was open to the ideas we had as a group.  In post-production we helped Erin, our editor, complete our movie We gave our input on how the film should look and what kind of cohesive mistakes we could fix. Either by changing the...

Racism PSA

Image
In this video we created a Public Service Announcement about racism. We decided to do the PSA about racism because it is a very relevant topic today in America. I believe we did a good job executing our idea but if we had more time to plan and gather the necessary equipment then it would have turn out even better. In pre-production we had to think of ideas and when one came up we kept building up on top of the original idea. We assigned jobs and started planning shots and equipment. I was director because the original idea was mine and I learned how to lead a team into executing a video. Wha I would change in production would be the mic. We did not have the audio levels to look at so in editing I had trouble balancing the audio. In editing I could have edited the audio transition near the just a little better.

End of Year Reflection

Image
e-Comm this year would have to be the best so far. We went very in depth this year in the two classes we chose to take. I learned a lot and my quality of work increased dramatically. I feel like I can use all the programs with confidence and also be able to help people with the program. Over the year people needed help but I needed help and I am grateful for the people who helped me as well. Technology: In Animation, we learned how to use new and better programs to make our projects look more professional. I had no idea how to use Maya or After Effects but Mr. Netterville taught me how to use them. I could make improvements to previous work but also be able to make more professional looking projects. My greatest strength/improvement would be working with the new programs I could use the to their full capability. My weakness would be After Effects. I still have a lot of things to learn in that program and I still can improve my skills in that program. Collaboration: I believe m...

Professional Article Review

http://www.animatorisland.com/why-2d-animation-should-be-abandoned-part-1/ This article describes why 2-D animation is not needed anymore. The authors argument of this article is that 2-D animation is not needed and 3-D animation is easier, computers are better at making detail than humans, and computers can make more complex figures and more complex shapes. The authors uses other animators such as, Tom Bancroft, to get a more professional view on the topic. The article's strengths are that she used multiple sources as evidence and she used pictures from known animated movie to explain each of the topics. The weakness is that it only had 3 points of why 2-D should be abandoned. The author could have added more details with further research. The author's general conclusion was that computers are starting to take over the animating world but the human still needs to be in control to make the animation good. The author's argument certainly goes along with the main points...

Professional Project

Image
I love this project. This has a meaning. It is to enjoy what you love doing and don't just go with what everyone else is doing. This is also a good animation because it uses the beat of a clock (hence the title) to keep the rhythm and the story. The different shots are going with the beat as well making it a satisfying video to watch. The style of this animation is very simple but it get the point through to the audience. All you need is a story to be able to make something people like watching. Along the beat they also make the video more intense with the drummer. This also show that you ave to do what your heart tells you to don't go with the flow, be unique.

Animation Final

Image
This animation final included everything we learned in animation so far. We had multiple people work on multiple areas of the video. I was in charge of the green screen portion. I needed to key out the green screen and make it look like they were actually in the video. We had to much light on the green screen and it created hot spots on the actors and on the video. I tried my best to bring the contrast and brightness down enough to make it look decent. They still look very bright but it was the best I could do. Thing we could have done better is making it look like she actually pushed the button. And also improve the voice acting (provided by yours truly).

Trailer Project Reflection

Image
Mean Girls Trailer Project Review This is one project I did not complete all the way. I lost the SD card with most of the trailer on it and we needed to re-shoot all of the lost footage which put our group behind. Editing takes a long time which was not a good thing since we were already behind with me losing the SD card. I edited as much as I could so I would not get a bad grade before spring break.  We did a pretty good job of planning before we went and shot the trailer. I had to use audio from the actual trailer because we did not have time to record all the voice-overs. If we had more time and if I hadn't lost the SD card we would have made a great video. With the video itself we could have done a better job with line up the shots the exact way. Again if we had time to we would have done so. The lighting was not the best either because the school's lights were off and we had to find some of the only lights on to get a not so perfect shot of ...
