Last Blog Post: Senior Year 2019

During this final year of e-Communication I was able to grow as a person, friends, and member of society. The works that I have completed have allowed me to met new people in my community and created deeper friendships. There was a sense of family when I was in ninth grade, this is still true 3 years later. I learned to complete projects on time and how to create videos efficiently in order to turn the projects in. Also I learned to work with people that did not really want to be in the program. The difficulty these kinds of people can bring are astronomical. They do not do the work and have no motivation to do anything. I was pulling all the slack and creating a video I was happy with and one that impressed people. I learned how to create an amazing video using my cinematography skills. Compared to my first video, my last final reel showcased some of my best works, and I say some because I could not find some of my other projects I worked on. I learned different terms and uses of th

.Insomnia. This project was a fun one to make. Though it was made in just a few hours, Jordan and I created a pretty good looking project. I feel like I slaked off in this project given the amount of time we were given. I kept putting this project off due to work, school and the feature film I am currently working on, but this does not excuse the utter slack of work I put into this. We filmed and directed this in 25 minutes and I edited all footage and sound in around 45 minutes to an hour. This concept was a different one that was chosen at first. We decided that this concept would be easier to produce. While this was short, this is the most editing I have done for a film, ever. It was very complicated with the light-leaks and the transitions that I used. The audio was the hardest thing that I had to edit. The ticking at the end was the most difficult to edit due to the effects that I had to implement in order to ensure that it sounded the way I intended it to. Overal

Spotify Commercial Project

Image
This project was the most fun I have had making a video. We wanted to create a funny, yet informative commercial that most high-schoolers could relate to. Through the Pre-Production and execution of this project I believe that this video turned out just as it should. But like any project, with more time this video could have improved drastically.

Final Senior Semester

I want to begin by saying this has been the best year in e-Comm so far. I have become a better and more independent person preparing myself for my future life. We began by creating a commercial, which I cannot locate at the moment. This project was a learning experience where I found that pre-planning was necessary for the smooth flow of production. We did not have a set time or location and the actors were last minute and some did not show up. It took around 2 weeks to complete the project and we could not be happier with the ending result. With the time frame we had and the amount of things that did not go our way, I believe we produced a quality video. This is our music video project with the song "Connection" by OneRepublic. I learned here that working as a team helps build ideas and create better content. Some people might have different and less creative ideas than yours, but you still have to take into consideration their input. There weren't many ch

Short Film (Senior)

This short film is incomplete. We had insufficient time, with both of our schedules and we had one day to film without any equipment. It was partially our fault for not anticipating this rush of people and use of equipment but we worked with what we had. I was unable to use the sound on the camera because the lens made a sound whenever it was focused. The day went well because the team was not fighting but collaborating in how we wanted to shoot the film. I was finished in a decent amount of time and the actor was willing to stay and help the film be finished. The editing is tricky with all the foley sound we had to record in order to have sound in the film. I might create a silent film with subtle music. I wanted to create a great short film but with my busy schedule I was not able to pull through.

Music Video Take 2

This music video was, to say the least, an experience. I was glad we were able to pull this off in the time we had due to delays in pre-production. During pre-production our group had a few disagreements and could not decide what to do. Due to this, some confrontation was needed in order to create the best quality music video. This was some of my best cinematography, I believe, I have ever done. I also was head editor of the group and stayed up all night to create this music video.  I, however, was not satisfied with our teamwork during production because only 2/5ths of our group showed up to the shooting days. We could have made this music video work with only three team members. I could not stress how much I did not want my cinematography to go to waste because of our lack of teamwork. Though, some feedback from other group members was helpful and created the story you see above.  This experience has taught me how to work with people that do not want their ideas to be ch

No Film School

All Oscar nominated films of 2015 used an ARRI Alexa to create the films. There is a go to for film makers when it comes to filming a movie. Other than a select few directors use a different style of camera in order to achieve their vision of the the film. The best camera on the market for filming in 2K is used and the directors need to think on how to make the movie interesting and unique from other films.   Hand-Held ARRI Alexa Directors do not want the movie to be a flop just because the shots were not interesting enough and they did not captivate the audience. They must tell a story with these shots and if all of them look the same they will not be able to win any awards. Through the magic of editing, the camera angles and shots might be able to look similar, but ultimately the colors and audio will make the shot look more unique and interesting. For example when Wes Anderson used film instead of a digital camera he had to make the set look aesthetic enough to capture the eye
