KCS Reflection
The role I was assigned this yea was the Assistant Camera to the Director of Photography, Cyle. I learned and developed greatly both in my skills with the Canon 80D and my teamwork skills with this job. The challenges I faced was not having any experience with the camera and some of my team members did not want to do any work for this film. At the beginning of the film I was not experienced with the camera and had to learn all the terms and controls for the new cameras. In the middle of production our DP broke his collar bone and was not able to use the camera so I took his job in making shot lists and calling all shots.
The time in my class when I wasn't filming was used for either looking in films for the construction of good shots or making the shot list for the next shoot. I also have been making videos just for fun at home because I am bored sometimes.
My strengths are being able to listen and adapt to quick changing situations and I can help with things that could be done faster. I can be focused but sometimes I get too focused and become oblivious to everything else.
My areas of improvement will be in my ever expanding knowledge on how to make a movie look good. I would also want to improve my organization skills to be more organized and productive and make things run as efficiently as possible.
The premiere on May 9th was a fun experience. I liked the before meet up with all crew and cast. I hope that next year our team can work better to create a better flowing movie but in general the movie was decent. During the movie I realized that I have a lot of techniques to learn and more to perfect. The goal I am going to make myself is to teach my the junior I'm with all the skills I ave learned so they will be able to advance faster and obtain the skills needed to create a successful movie.
