This is the over the shoulder shot from our video.

ONW Planner Procedure

The scope of the project was to capture the various procedures in the planner and my partner and I chose to do the video about how to use the planner properly. Our process was to get notes from the client and see what the client wanted to be in their video. Then from those notes we came up with ideas and wrote them down. After we wrote down our ideas we grabbed a storyboard and came up with a few ideas for shots then fine tuned them.
This was a medium shot to capture
the teacher signing the planner.

For the shooting we followed the storyboard almost exactly and we remembered the 6-shot system and the 180* rule. The six shot system consists of six shots (duh) and they are Extreme-wide, Wide, Medium, Over the shoulder, Close-up, and Extreme close-up. We needed to use all of them but we missed the Extreme close-up in our video. But for the shots that we did take they were correctly placed and framed. We also used the notes to see how we were going to edit the video to the specifications of the client. We needed music and had to be around 30 seconds.

During the process I learned how to use a new type of camera and how to use Adobe AfterEffects better. I also learned how to express ideas with a team and how to build from each others ideas. What I would do different would be getting more of the six shots into the video because we did not include all of them in this video. And what I would do the same would be keeping the 180* rule because I made our shots look better and it kept the shots more consistent.

I would keep my camera angle the same and not use moving shots the next time I make a video because my teacher and peers said that it would improve the quality of my video. I learned how to use a better camera and a better software to also further improve my video but if I did not have the review from my peers and teacher I would not have seen the mistakes that I have made in the video.

  1. This was a really good summary! Next time I might try to put more voice into the post, though, so it doesn't sound like you're just listing off the answers to the questions.
