On my worm project we learned how to make a worm move by setting key frames in After Effects and timing them just right so the worm didn't slide. I learned how to make the key frames from Mr. Netterville teaching us and I got some help from my peers. I picked this project because it was one of the first ones we made and it was easier than the rest. The greatest strength for this project was that the worm did no slide that much when set the key frames up just right. And my weakness was the badly colored worm. I am going to use the key frames skills I have learned for this project and put it to use in another animation. My next project is a castle that we made in Maya. I learned how to make walls and towers with the different tools in Maya such as the Difference tool and the Bevel tool. I picked this project because it was the first one in Maya we did and it would later build up the skills needed to make more complex scenes. My greatest weakness would be only using one te...

Professional Project Review

Image
Professional Project Review The scope of the animation was to tell the heroic tale of a dust bunny saving his dust bunny friends. I can see the main principles of animation when the dust bunnies are moving. The are exaggerated movements and you can see the squash and stretch. The story told was about dust bunnies and how one of them becomes the hero when a maid vacuums its friends up. It was told all through facial expressions and it still gave the same affect as when the characters were talking. I would like to make an animation like this, where t is is told only through facial features and not through talking. One element that was use that I have learned was that it had exaggerated features.

Personal Blog Feature Story #2

Image
Feature Story #2 60"> My feature story was about a Pastor at the United Methodist Church of Resurrection that was sent to prison for 24 years, falsely convicted. I volunteer at the Church and I know the pastor, Darryl Burton, and he was willing to talk about his experience with me. I learned to make a story where I could get more B-Roll. I also learned that I need to speed up my process of making the video. I am to focused in making the video good that I do not have the time to finish it.

Poly Thing

Image
Poly Thing This is my poly thing we made in Maya. We used a sphere then used a cylinder through it to make the hole with the Difference tool. We learned all the different kinds of lights that we can use to create amazing effects like the one you see to the left. I used the directional light to make a key light, a fill light, and a back light. The key light has a small shade of blue in it and the fill light has a small shade of yellow. The back light was used just to make the poly thing stand out of the background. I hope to get better at lighting and get better at Maya in general.

1 in 2,000

1 in 2,000 In this project we interviewed one of our classmates about something they did for a hobby or after school. The thing I improved on the most was the audio portion of making a video. I never realized that audio was so important to a video and how hard it is to make the video just right. One audio level did not work for me and I had to work around that. This built up my problem solving skill that is needed in the real world. Overall, the video turned out okay but there are a few spots where I could improve.

Maya Project This is my first project in Maya. We made a castle with the different 3-D shapes. Then used different tools to make it. Such as mesh, offset, and resize. The controls were hard to figure out but you got used to them the more we worked with them.

MultiPlane Animation

Image
Multiplane Animation In this animation we learned how to create a multilayered moving picture. We first watched how Disney made its first animation this way and we had to recreate something like it. I chose to do a moonlight setting with a starry background and buildings with weird windows. I wanted to go above and beyond of what I was told to do so I did some shading and made some "people" watching the starry night. To make it look more realistic we needed to make the background move slower than the top layer. Overall I am pretty pleased with what I have made. This has been my best animation so far.

This is the over the shoulder shot from our video. ONW Planner Procedure The scope of the project was to capture the various procedures in the planner and my partner and I chose to do the video about how to use the planner properly. Our process was to get notes from the client and see what the client wanted to be in their video. Then from those notes we came up with ideas and wrote them down. After we wrote down our ideas we grabbed a storyboard and came up with a few ideas for shots then fine tuned them. This was a medium shot to capture the teacher signing the planner.  For the shooting we followed the storyboard almost exactly and we remembered the 6-shot system and the 180* rule. The six shot system consists of six shots (duh) and they are Extreme-wide, Wide, Medium, Over the shoulder, Close-up, and Extreme close-up. We needed to use all of them but we missed the Extreme close-up in our video. But for the shots that we did take they were correctly placed ...

Final Blog Post This is the video I worked on and acted in. We could have done better with the humor portion of it and better with the audio. We did good with the shots and with the humor we hd in t the graphics were also good and went good with the voice over. This is the company logo I created. I could have done better with the color scheme but we did not have the time to color it. I chose to do the gears because of the Cog part of out company. Cog sound like Cogs so Cogs are gears and that is why I chose to incorporate the gears and logo. This year I have improved tremendously with everything varying though graphics, animation, and video. Looking back at my old work and now looking at my new and improved work I am really proud of myself at the effort I gave this year. I really am looking forward to Convergence Journalism in the years to come and making more memories in e-Communcation.
