No Film School

All Oscar nominated films of 2015 used an ARRI Alexa to create the films. There is a go to for film makers when it comes to filming a movie. Other than a select few directors use a different style of camera in order to achieve their vision of the the film. The best camera on the market for filming in 2K is used and the directors need to think on how to make the movie interesting and unique from other films.   Hand-Held ARRI Alexa Directors do not want the movie to be a flop just because the shots were not interesting enough and they did not captivate the audience. They must tell a story with these shots and if all of them look the same they will not be able to win any awards. Through the magic of editing, the camera angles and shots might be able to look similar, but ultimately the colors and audio will make the shot look more unique and interesting. KCS Reflection

The role I was assigned this yea was the Assistant Camera to the Director of Photography, Cyle. I learned and developed greatly both in my skills with the Canon 80D and my teamwork skills with this job. The challenges I faced was not having any experience with the camera and some of my team members did not want to do any work for this film. At the beginning of the film I was not experienced with the camera and had to learn all the terms and controls for the new cameras. In the middle of production our DP broke his collar bone and was not able to use the camera so I took his job in making shot lists and calling all shots. The time in my class when I wasn't filming was used for either looking in films for the construction of good shots or making the shot list for the next shoot. I also have been making videos just for fun at home because I am bored sometimes. My strengths are being able to listen and adapt to quick changing situations and I can help with things that could be done...
